ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award
The EPA has announced its prestigious award for our ecopower® microCHP. Marathon Engine Systems is one of two companies nationwide to win this award. See EPA ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award for details.
The Marathon engine has received certification by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for use in small off-road equipment.
Marathon Engine Systems is a growing company focused on innovative products for prime and remote power applications with emphasis on energy efficiency and savings. Our main product is the ecopower® microCHP. The COGENERATION tab above explains the various applications where small scale Combined Heat and Power systems (microCHP) can benefit you. This is an established, environmentally-friendly technology that is gaining acceptance in North America and is considered by some to be the "Future of Distributed Power Generation."
Prime Remote Power is also an area of focus for Marathon. We have a number of products that can be applied to long term power needs for telecom sites, railroads, and oil field applications.

Energy Update

Federal and State Incentives/ Rebates - CHP With the recent stimulus package passed by Congress, CHP has been given a 10% tax credit for Commercial applications. In addition, an accelerated depreciation schedule has been enacted for businesses.
States are becoming more aware of CHP technology and are changing their incentive and rebate policies on a regular basis. Check your local registry and utility company for your state's specific policies.

The DSIRE Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency is an extensive guide to state, local, utility, and federal programs supporting environmentally friendly technologies, including Combined Heat and Power. Click on the link at left for details.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory Report Highlights
"Combined Heat and Power
Effective Energy Solutions for a Sustainable Future"
A report by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory points out that more than two-thirds (67%) of fuel used to generate power in the U.S. is lost as waste heat.
The report projects that if CHP were to produce 20% of all U.S. electricity by 2030 (several countries have already achieved this level):
Our ecopower® microCHP was installed in the Epping, NH, town hall.

$5,000 ecopower® PERC Incentive
The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has announced the Exceptional Product Program $5,000 incentive for the propane-powered ecopower®. A limited number of incentives are available. Contact Marathon Engine Systems for details or view the PERC announcement.
ecopower® Novel Car Wash Installation
The ecopower® is generating heat and electrical energy in an innovative, energy savings application by N.E. Mitchell Co. at a New Milford, CT, car wash facility. Download and view the brochure and case study. The ecopower® was recently presented in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Parallel ecopower® microCHP units are installed in the First Affordable LEED Platinum Building in New York.

Four ecopower® Units
Run in Parallel
Marathon Engine Systems configures four units to run in parallel operation, outputting more than 17kW of electricity and 45 kW (153,000 BTU/hr) of thermal energy. For variable building energy needs, only the required units are started.
